NY Giants right tackle Matt Peart limped off the field, after suffering what looked like a knee injury, in the first quarter against the Eagles
The NY Giants could be facing a catastrophe at offensive tackle, after second-year lineman Matt Peart limped off with an apparent knee injury Sunday afternoon in Philadelphia against the Eagles.
According to the FOX broadcast, Peart is questionable to return with the injury deemed a left-knee sprain.
Peart made the start at right tackle, in place of Nate Solder, which could leave the Giants woefully thin along the offensive line for the remainder of Sunday’s game if the UConn product is unable to return. Peart played sparingly, ahead of Sunday’s game, after an inconsistent season.
Solder was sidelined, as part of COVID-19 protocols and unable to play against Philadelphia, which led to former first-round pick Isiah Wilson being activated for the first time this season.
Wilson was claimed off waivers by the NY Giants earlier this season, and him being pressed into action. Sunday afternoon is emblematic of New York’s struggles up front along the offensive line this season.
Peart’s injury could prove problematic for the NY Giants’ offense, with second-year quarterback Jake Fromm making his first career NFL start, on the road in a hostile environment, against the NFC East rival Philadelphia Eagles.
