NY Giants MVP: Lorenzo Carter

It was near impossible to find a player on the NY Giants who I believed deserved MVP rights after this week’s embarrassing loss.

However, after looking at stats and watching film, the MVP belongs to Lorenzo Carter for the second week in a row.

Lorenzo Carter finished the game with 5 combined tackles, 1 sack, 1 pass deflection,1 forced fumble, and 1 QB hit. While these numbers are not anything insane, when compared to other players on the NY Giants they are arguably the best.

Carter’s only sack of the game came pretty early on while the NY Giants defense was dominating. Coming off the right edge, Carter used immense effort to work his man, until he eventually was able to be released after Jalen Hurts took off, Carter then chased down Hurts, took him down, and caused the ball to come loose.

This play really shows off Lorenzo Carter’s effort tremendously, if he had not fought so hard he would not have come close to making this play, fantastic play for the young edge rusher.

Another great play from Lorenzo Carter was his lone pass deflection, after feeling the pressure from Elerson Smith, Jalen Hurts threw the ball to Jordan Howard on a screen pass, however, the play was not to be after Carter showed off his vertical and batted the pass down.

Carter has really made a name for himself these last 2 weeks, tallying 12 combined tackles, 3 sacks, 2 pass deflections, and 2 forced fumbles in said weeks. If Carter can continue this play for the rest of the season it is likely that he will return with a big role for the NY Giants next season.
