The NY Giants’ receiving corps rarely took the field together, as intended, in 2021, which could lead to major changes for the unit in 2022

Injuries to key players and a general sense of dread have consumed the 2021 NY Giants season.

It’s not forecasted to get much better, and the team’s long-term future may need to be the primary current concern since losing may need to be the plan as this year concludes.

No need to take a page out of Motion City Soundtrack’s playbook, though. The future doesn’t freak me out.

There’s two draft picks Big Blue could use in 2022, and the Giants have two potential top-five picks, assuming Jake Fromm doesn’t win games he truly shouldn’t as New York’s new QB/game-manager.

One must must must be used on an offensive lineman. That is truly not up for debate. Tyler Linderbaum was a named connected by CBS in their mock draft for this upcoming April’s NFL Draft.

The other? Well, there are a few holes that may not require as much attention, but could still use a talent infusion.

What we know is that it won’t be used on a receiver after Kadarius Toney was selected in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft and Kenny Golladay was signed to a big-money deal in free agency.

That doesn’t mean talent can’t be added late in the draft or by other means. The Giants have a few million to spend, so the unit is likely to add youth over free agents.

Here’s a look at what could wind up being the NY Giants’ deal receiving corps next season:

Kenny Golladay has a better year two in blue

Of course, we’d be remiss to mention that the lack of a true starring role in Kenny Golladay’s first season on Broadway was a drawback that cannot be repeated in 2022.

The NY Giants pay him too much money for a repeat performance leading to light a fire to the franchise’s finances moving forward.

We believe in Golladay’s ability to bounce back. Who knows? There’s still enough season left to at least have fantasy owners being happy they rolled the dice on him.

Golladay likely isn’t all that interested in that, instead hoping to refocus and become the top receiver that the league knows he is.
