If the NY Giants were to take an offensive tackle and an edge rush in the first round, they are going to want to consider looking for a lineman later on in the draft. A prime candidate for this pick is offensive guard Ed Ingram out of LSU.

With the NY Giants likely not bringing current guard Will Hernandez back, alongside the massive question marks at the other guard spot, Ingram would be a good candidate to replace Hernandez or one of the other guards.

Ingram, 6-foot-4 and 315 pounds is an offensive guard out of LSU, who the NY Giants could really use.

What is probably Ingram’s biggest strength is his pass blocking ability, only allowing two sacks (both in the same game), 11 pressures, one QB hit, and eight QB hurries in 11 games, thanks in large part to using his massive frame to bully opposing defenders.

However, one of the main reasons for Ingram’s fall to the later rounds is his lack of burst off the line. This lack of burst can become troublesome when he needs to pull around on a run. Another issue with Ingram is he can be very inconsistent with his blocks. For example, sometimes during run plays he lacks awareness and can sometimes let a defender get behind him, while other times he runs certain plays perfectly.

Out of the 11 games he played this season, he did not allow a single pressure, sack, QB hit, or QB hurry in five. These five games shows his massive upside as an NFL caliber guard. If he can just work out the inconsistencies he has, he could be an instant impact player for this NY Giants team.
