The NY Giants would own a pair of top-10 picks in the upcoming 2022 NFL Draft, if the regular season ended today

The NY Giants are in the midst of a five-game losing streak, after falling to the Chicago Bears, 29-3 on Sunday afternoon in a game that was seemingly over before it began.

Following Sunday’s loss, that saw Mike Glennon pass for 24 yards with four turnovers, questions abound for the Giants ahead of a pivotal offseason.

While the NY Giants have limited resources to fill their myriad needs — at least in free agency — with less than $4 million in anticipated cap space, the organization does have the potential to add a couple of blue-chip prospects in the 2022 NFL Draft.

Following Sunday’s action, if the 2021 NFL season ended today, the NY Giants would own the No. 5 and No. 8 overall picks in next spring’s NFL Draft.

It would seem unlikely that the NY Giants would be able to jump past the Jets for the No. 4 overall choice, because the tiebreaker is strength of schedule, and the Jets hold a substantial edge (.515 to .537).

But, if the NY Giants lose to the Washington Football Team, and either the Jets beat the Buffalo Bills (which seems unlikely) or the Texans beat the AFC’s No. 1 seed Tennessee Titans (equally unlikely), New York could jump all the way to No. 3 overall.

Here’s a look at the current top-10 picks in the 2022 NFL Draft, including the NY Giants’ pair of selections:

  1. Jacksonville Jaguars (2-14)
  2. Detroit Lions (2-12-1)
  3. Houston Texans (4-12)
  4. New York Jets (4-12)
  5. NY Giants (4-12)
  6. Carolina Panthers (5-11)
  7. New York Jets (via Seattle Seahawks) (6-10)
  8. NY Giants (via Chicago Bears) (6-10)
  9. Washington Football Team (6-10)
  10. Atlanta Falcons (7-9)
