NY Giants Safety, Xavier McKinney

There is an argument to be made that Xavier McKinney is currently the best player on this Giants’ defense.

While McKinney showed glimpses of potential during his rookie year, he played just six games. Over the six games, McKinney recorded one interception and racked up 25 tackles.

McKinney has looked like a different player in year two. Over 16 games, and 1075 snaps, he has recorded 61 tackles and five interceptions. He also turned one interception into a touchdown.

There is a case to be made that McKinney was also robbed of a spot in the Pro Bowl. Pro Football currently gives McKinney a 73.00 overall grade and a 75.9 coverage grade. He is the 23rd ranked safety up to this point in this season.

The Giants secondary currently boasts several talented players, but McKinney is proving to be the best. His level of play mirrors some of the league’s best safeties. He has earned his spot on the Giants for the foreseeable future.
