Round 4, #110 Overall: OT Braxton Jones, Southern Utah

Here, the NY Giants take another swing on a developmental mid-round tackle from a smaller football school.

It appears that the Matt Peart experiment is never going to yield a starting product on the Giants’ offensive line. Peart does not appear ready for the spotlight for the full-time gig at right tackle. The Giants must keep looking for options at the position.

Enter Braxton Jones from Southern Utah. Jones is incredibly gifted with his feet and recovery speed. He uses his size to his advantage and pushes his competition out of harm’s way for his quarterback and running backs equally.

Jones is a developmental prospect coming from an FCS school. He may struggle out of the gate with NFL speed but his high football IQ and mental toughness look second to none. This would be the 3rd offensive lineman taken in this draft, there is a clear pattern here. After Dabe Gettleman’s shortcomings as GM, this offensive line truly must be fixed “once and for all”.
