Whether Dave Gettleman is fired, or announces his retirement, his reign with the New York Giants is most certainly over.

Gettleman leaves the New York Giants with just $2.75 million in cap space, likely in search of four new starting offensive linemen, uncertainty over Daniel Jones’ future at quarterback, among other pressing roster issues.

When it is official that Gettleman is no longer calling the shots for the New York Giants, his legacy will be tied to choosing Saquon Barkley No. 2 overall, prolonging the organization’s commitment to Eli Manning for 18 games more than necessary, poor drafts, free agent blunders, and leaving the franchise in a worse state than he found it.
