Lorenzo Carter is the type of player, a homegrown talent who came on strong down the stretch, that the New York Giants would absolutely love to keep and build around. However, Carter is set to become an unrestricted free agent, and after a month of December in which he produced four sacks and forced two fumbles, could be way out of New York’s price range.

Besides, Azeez Ojulari, chosen by the New York Giants in the second-round of last spring’s NFL Draft might be one of five or fewer foundational players currently on the roster.

Quincy Roche has been a bit of a revelation down the stretch this season, with 16 tackles and 1.5 sacks over the last five games.

Roche, and young players like Cam Brown, T.J. Brunson, and Carter Coughlin are the type of players with upside that New York can afford, as it enters the offseason with less than $3 million in cap space.
