Xavier McKinney showed enough this season, and down the stretch of his rookie campaign in 2021, that he can be a foundational building block player for the New York Giants’ defense in coming years.

New York is locked into Logan Ryan, after his Christmas morning contract extension, signed last season.

Meanwhile, Julian Love’s versatility to play safety and cornerback, and at times at a high level, should give him a chance to compete for a starting role next season.

Jabrill Peppers is set to become a free agent, but after rupturing his Achilles earlier this season, could be forced to settle for a one-year prove-it deal, which could make it possible for him to return to the New York Giants.
