The New York Giants have begun the interview process to replace Dave Gettleman, who retired as general manager on Monday 

The New York Giants search for a new general manager has begun, following Dave Gettleman’s retirement Monday.

“Today, we begin our search for our next General Manager,” Giants owner John Mara said in a statement released to the media, which was also a letter sent to season ticket holders. “Our process will be deliberate and thorough. We are united in our vision in what attributes our next general manager possess, and we will find the most outstanding person for the job. We envision a leader who displays a strategic long-term vision for our franchise, an excellent communicator and someone who will oversee our entire football operations, including player personnel, college scouting and coaching.”

Friday, Jan. 14, 2022: Titans take center stage

Friday, the New York Giants are slated to interview a pair of Tennessee Titans executives for the general manager vacancy.

Up first, Director of Player Personnel Monti Ossenfort, who is considered a favorite to land the job, will interview via ZOOM in the morning, followed in the afternoon by Vice President of Player Personnel Ryan Cowden.

Thursday, Jan. 13, 2022: New York Giants interview Quentin Harris

Thursday afternoon, the New York Giants announced that Arizona Cardinals Vice President of Player Personnel, Quentin Harris interviewed for the general manager vacancy. Harris has spent 14 seasons climbing the ladder in the Cardinals’ scouting department, and this was his first season in his current role.

Wednesday: New York Giants begin GM interviews, with Joe Schoen, Adrian Wilson

The New York Giants will begin interviews to fill the general manager vacancy, beginning with Arizona Cardinals VP of pro personnel Adrian Wilson and Buffalo Bills assistant GM Joe Schoen.

Wilson has climbed up the Cardinals’ front office ladder following an All-Pro career as a safety in Arizona.

Meanwhile, Schoen will be the first interview that John Mara and the New York Giants conduct. Schoen arrived in Buffalo in 2017 and has been instrumental in building out a roster that made the AFC Championship Game last season, and won the AFC East this year.

Monday: New York Giants request to interview Titans’ Monti Ossenfort, Ryan Cowden

The New York Giants requested permission to interview two of the higher ranking executives in the Tennessee Titans’ front office, Monti Ossenfort and Ryan Cowden.

Ossenfort, the Titans’ Director of Player Personnel, was hired by Tennessee in 2020. Prior to his arrival in Nashville, Ossenfort served as the New England Patriots’ Director of College Scouting, where his path crossed with New York Giants head coach Joe Judge.

Meanwhile, Cowden, the Titans’ Vice President of Player Personnel, has 21 years of front office experience and has been involved in all aspects of the roster building process, from free agency, assisting with trades, and the NFL Draft.

Monday: New York Giants request to interview Chiefs executive Ryan Poles

The first name the New York Giants requested to interview for the general manager position vacated by Dave Gettleman’s retirement was Kansas City Chiefs Executive Director of Player Personnel Ryan Poles.

Poles has spent over a decade in the Chiefs’ front office, rising up the ranks from Director of College Scouting. With a background in the college scouting department, Poles was instrumental in the Chiefs drafting Creed Humphrey and Trey Smith, who became instant contributors in Kansas City.
