2) Dallas Cowboys
The NFC East champions, when fully healthy, have one of the more prolific casts of offensive skill players in the NFL.
However, after signing quarterback Dak Prescott and running back Ezekiel Elliott to long-term contracts, the Cowboys enter the offseason nearly $12 million over the cap.
Meanwhile, Dallas’ offense woefully underachieved down the stretch.
Perhaps Dallas’ best and most underrated attribute is a defense with young players like Micah Parsons, Trevon Diggs, Osa Odighizuwa, Damontae Kazee, and others exceeding expectations this season. However, if defensive coordinator Dan Quinn leaves to become a head coach, there’s no telling the impact that might have on the Cowboys’ defense in coming years.
Dallas still boasts one of the game’s most consistent offensive lines, a premier quarterback, myriad weapons, and should be in the mix for the division title, at minimum in future years.
