NY Giants backup QB’s Mike Glennon and Jake Fromm:

While this may seem like an odd combination of players to list, when you consider how poorly they played with the number of games they were forced to play in, the NY Giants simply need to look for a new backup QB.

Mike Glennon was forced into the starting job after QB Daniel Jones went out with a neck injury following a week 12 win against the Philadelphia Eagles, in the following 5 games, Glennon would complete 74 of his 142 passes for 4 TD’s and 9 turnovers, this is not ideal in the slightest.

Glennon struggled to complete simple passes throughout every game he played in, making it clear that the NY Giants needed a new backup QB after this season, and after Glennon played his way out of the starting lineup, it seemed like the NY Giants may have found their new backup for the future, however, this excitement quickly faded.

Jake Fromm entered the game in relief of Mike Glennon during the final drive of a blowout loss to the Dallas Cowboys in week 15, completing 6 of his 12 passes for 82 yards, looking very solid, it seemed like Fromm would become the NY Giants starter for the remainder of the season with how poorly Glennon was playing, however, it quickly became clear that this would not be the case.

After this game against the Cowboys, it was announced that Jake Fromm would start the NY Giants Week 16 matchup against the Eagles, boy was it a rough one to watch.

Completing only 6 of his 17 passes for a measly 25 yards, no TD’s, and 1 interception, it quickly became clear that Fromm was not even an NFL caliber QB, failing to make even the simplest of passes and looking far worse than Mike Glennon, Fromm was then benched during the second half of this game against the Eagles in favor of Glennon.

However, after Glennon injured his wrist during a tough week 17 loss to the Chicago Bears, Fromm would be put back into the starting spot for the last game of the season against the Washington Football Team, boy did he not play well.

Completing 15 of his 31 passes for 103 yards, 1 TD, and 3 turnovers, with one of these turnovers being an embarrassing fumble in which Fromm just dropped the ball while winding up, it became clear that Fromm is just simply not able to play in the NFL, at least not yet.

With Daniel Jones having yet to play a full season in the NFL, the NY Giants have been in constant need of a backup QB, while the first two years the Giants had solid guys in Eli Manning and Colt McCoy, this season was rough with the combination of Mike Glennon and Jake Fromm.

Due to both of these backups playing at a below NFL caliber level this season, it is clear that the NY Giants will be in search of a replacement backup QB for next year.
