After firing previous offensive coordinator Joe Brady, the Carolina Panthers have found a replacement in the face of former disgraced NY Giants head coach Ben McAdoo.

This move is somewhat shocking, as McAdoo’s last tenure as a coordinator/coach ended in disaster.

McAdoo quickly became one of the most hated men in NY Sports history after he disgracefully decided to bench NY Giants HOF QB Eli Manning in favor of backup QB Geno Smith in a Week 13 matchup against the Raiders.

While yes, Manning was in the middle of one of his worst seasons as a NY Giants, that does not make this move okay. Eli Manning is one of the biggest icons in NY Sports and for McAdoo to completely disregard what Manning did for this team and what he meant to the fans in order to bench him really said something about his character.

This led to McAdoo being fired two weeks later, making several NY Giants fans happy that he was gone.

McAdoo showcased an inability to maintain a locker room, and an inability to manage talent. While McAdoo is probably the best fit as an offensive coordinator, this should not take away from what he did as a head coach.

Panthers fans have also been taking to Twitter to showcase their disapproval of the move, posting some very funny memes about the move like this one here:

With it seeming likely that Matt Rhule would be fired after last season, it is a tough sell to Panthers fans for Rhule to bring in someone with such a controversial history, however, as I previously said, Ben McAdoo is best fit as an OC, as this is where he saw most of his success, so it will be interesting to see how he performs next season.
