2018 NFL Draft: Bradley Chubb, EDGE, NC State/Denver Broncos

With the No. 5 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft the Denver Broncos selected Bradley Chubb out of North Carolina State, pairing him next to HOF pass rusher Von Miller.

For a time, it seemed as if these two would carry the Broncos defense for the next 5+ years, however, this has been far from the case due to injuries.

Chubb burst onto the scene his rookie season, tallying 60 combined tackles, 12 sacks, 14 tackles for loss, 2 forced fumbles, and 21 QB hits in 16 games played, however, this would be the last time Chubb would play a full season.

During a 2019 matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars, Chubb would tear his ACL, taking him out for the remainder of his sophomore season.

This sometimes devastating injury did not slow Chubb down, however, as during the 2020 season he would put up similar numbers to his rookie year, tallying 42 combined tackles, 7.5 sacks, 1 forced fumble, 9 tackles for loss, and 19 QB hits in 14 games played, making the Pro Bowl this season.

However, during the 2021 season, Chubb would suffer a sprained ankle during training camps, causing him to miss the Broncos week 1 matchup against the NY Giants, then, after coming back for week 2, Chubb would re-aggravate the injury, causing him to miss the next 10 games.

Even when Chubb came back, he did not look the same, only tallying 20 tackles, 0 sacks, 1 tackle for loss, 4 QB hits, and 1 interception in the final 6 games of the season.

While there is a very good chance that Bradley Chubb bounces back next season, it really sucks to see a player so talented deal with so many injuries.
