Sterling Shepard, Wide Reciever

Wide receiver Sterling Shepard could be the most likely player that the Giants choose to move on from. The Giants have talent at the position with Kenny Golladay, Kadarius Toney, and Darius Slayton.

Moving on from Shepard could be a hard decision for the Giants considering how long he has been with the team. The Giants drafted him in the second round of the 2016 draft and he is the last remaining piece of a very different time in Giants history.

Shephard’s inability to stay on the field, plus the money that the Giants would free up by moving on is what makes this a real possibility. Shepard hasn’t played a full season since 2018, and has missed 21 games in that time.

His 2021 season was unfortunately cut short due to an achilles injury. This same injury could also play a role in the Giants not bringing Shepard back as he may not be ready for the start of next season.

If the Giants cut Shepard and feel like there is a lack of depth at the position, there are options that could be brought in whether through free agency or the draft.
