New York Giants Edge, Quincy Roche

Quincy Roche was taken in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL by the Pittsburgh Steelers. After being cut by the Steelers, the New York Giants picked Roche up on waivers.

Roche didn’t make his first appearance with the Giants until Week 3 where he played just three snaps. Through weeks three through seven, the first four games of Roche’s career, he played just 39 snaps total.

Week 7 served as somewhat of a breakout for Roche. He recorded three tackles and one tackle for loss in this 25-3 victory over the Carolina Panthers. After this game, Roche solidified his spot on the defense.

Over the following three games, Roche played 150 total snaps and totaled 13 tackles, one tackle for loss, one sack, and one forced fumble.

Roche finished with a rookie season that went far better than the Giants could have assumed when they picked him up off of waivers. Roche finished the season with a PFF grade of 59.6. He excelled in his run defense where he finished with a grade of 68.5.

He also racked up three sacks and 14 total pressures. The rookie edge rusher paved out a clear role for himself on this defense and could play a vital role in the success of this team in the future.
