The 2022 NFL Draft is approaching, and the New York Giants will have a new direction under new GM Joe Schoen who helped build the Bills into Super Bowl contenders

With the 2022 NFL Draft just 3 months away, alongside the New York Giants hiring former Buffalo Bills assistant GM Joe Schoen to lead the organization in a new direction, it is reasonable to expect Schoen to draft game-changers for the Giants.

Schoen joined the Bills during the 2017 off-season as an assistant GM, and since then has helped the Bills make several important decisions, including draft picks.

The New York Giants own nine total picks in the 2022 NFL Draft, and with Schoen having a history of helping the Buffalo Bills pick several key players, there is a good chance Schoen drafts the NY Giants some impact players.

During his tenure as the assistant GM of the Bills, Schoen drafted several players outside of the first round who played important roles on the team, if he can replicate this success in the later rounds we can expect a rather quick turnaround for the NY Giants.

Here are 5 underrated NFL Draft picks that new New York Giants GM Joe Schoen helped the Buffalo Bills make:

TE Dawson Knox: 2019 NFL Draft, round 3, pick No. 96

With the Buffalo Bills in need of a TE, they decided to take Dawson Knox out of Mississippi. While it took some time for Dawson Knox to break out, the fact that he was selected in the third round and became a game-changer for such an elite offense should speak levels on the Bills (and Schoen’s) ability to examine talent.

In 15 games played this season Dawson Knox caught 49 passes for 587 yards and 9 TD’s, making a difference for an elite Buffalo Bills offense.

This should excite NY Giants fans as the Giants will likely be selecting a TE in this year’s draft due to Evan Engram likely not returning, if Schoen can draft a player similar to Knox the NY Giants offense will drastically improve.

There are several TE’s with the potential to make a difference in the middle rounds, like Isaiah Likely or Jake Ferguson, there is a very good chance Schoen decides to go with one of these options later in the draft to help improve the NY Giants offense.
