The New York Giants hired Brian Daboll, and Twitter erupted to the news Friday night
The New York Giants got their guy.
Friday night, the New York Giants hired Bills Offensive Coordinator Brian Daboll to be the team’s next head coach, the candidate owner John Mara and the front office seemed to covet all along.
Giants general manager Joe Schoen and Daboll were both part of the Buffalo Bills building into one of the NFL’s more dominant franchises over the past several years.
The connection with Schoen and Daboll made this hire very easy and expected. The other finalists for the head coaching job were Brian Flores, Leslie Frazier, Dan Quinn, and Patrick Graham.
Daboll joined the Bills as offensive coordinator in 2018. In 2020, he was voted the AP’s NFL Assistant Coach of the Year after the Bills finished 13-3.
"“It is an honor and privilege to be named head coach of the New York Giants,” Daboll said, in a statement released by the New York Giants Friday eevening. “I promise we will work our tails off to put a team on the field that you will be proud to support and give us the results we all want.”"

If the #Giants can come to a deal with Brian Daboll, Daniel Jones would be among the biggest winners given Daboll’s track record turning Josh Allen into an MVP candidate. #NFL https://t.co/dvILPW2oPv

We talk a lot about Josh Allen’s (incredible) leap, but Brian Daboll’s growth as a play caller from year one to four was almost as fun to watch. The in-season adjustments this year alone!

Brian Daboll has got a hell of a task in front of him. He earned the right to fix the Giants fair and square.
