The New York Giants, after hiring Joe Schoen and Brian Daboll appear to have begun a long-overdue rebuild, but who has a chance to be part of the new core?

A long-overdue overhaul has begun for the New York Giants.

Owners John Mara and Steve Tich got their man for the vacant general manager job, in former Buffalo Bills Assistant GM Joe Schoen. Then came former Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Brian Daboll to fill the head coaching vacancy.

There’s also a chance the Giants will look to the Buffalo Bills to fill Daboll’s offensive coordinator job, with the possibility of Ken Dorsey following suit to East Rutherford.

As the New York Giants’ rebuild begins, these players are facing make-or-break 2022 seasons:

New York Giants QB Daniel Jones

As the No. six overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, Jones was to be former GM Dave Gettleman’s ‘I know more than you pick.’

Unfortunately, it has not worked out that way.

Jones has been hit or miss since becoming the Giants quarterback. He has been inconsistent in his play and has been a turnover machine. With all the bad there have been flashes, but he has not been healthy enough to keep that going.

Missing games every year he’s played, a bad offensive line, and terrible play calling have all hurt his chances of fairly being evaluated, that is all true.

This is his fourth year on his rookie deal and the Giants are on the hook for almost $22 million if they decide to pick up his fifth option in 2023. Jones got another pass on his third year, the year most young quarterbacks figure it out, he will not get another one.
