NY Giants Trade Back Target #1: IOL Zion Johnson, Boston College

If the New York Giants want to fix their interior of the offensive line, then Zion Johnson is one of their best bets to do so in this draft.

Johnson is a beast at 6-foot-3 and 315 pounds. He’s an accomplished player in the ACC where he’s started and earned Postseason recognition the past three seasons. Johnson was a 2nd and 3rd Team All-ACC player in 2019 and 2020 before cranking it up to 1st Team All-ACC and 1st Team All-American in 2021.

Johnson absolutely dominated at the Senior Bowl last week. Seeing him up close, he is a dominant force who is able to win with his impressive power and his equally-strong technique. Johnson is a selfless player who is versatile and a hard worker, as proven by his ability to play center and hold up well this week against some of the top pass rushers in this draft class.

Johnson stayed back after practices to get extra work and reps with the Jets’ coaching staff. Johnson’s play didn’t go unnoticed and he earned the Senior Bowl Practice Player of the Week honors.

Johnson is going to be a hot commodity in April when his name is called in the early part of the draft. His stock is currently rising and will only continue to soar. He is cementing his name as a sure-thing Round 1 pick and may keep moving up the boards with an impressive performance at the NFL Combine.
