Round 5 (No. 173 Overall): Max Borghi, RB, Washington State

Why would he be a good value for the NY Giants?

Borghi put up 1100 yards rushing, 140 receptions, and 29 total touchdowns in his first two seasons for Washington State. He is such a skilled receiver that he was on the watch lists for the Doak Walker Award (top college running back) and Biletnikoff Award (top college receiver) before the 2021 season. His greatest strength is his versatility and explosiveness and he should carve out a role on an NFL roster as a third-down back/special teams contributor.

How would he fit on the 2022 Giants’ roster?

Borghi would struggle if he was used as a traditional NFL runningback, but coach Daboll would use him to his strengths. He would be used strictly on third downs and special teams.

NFL Comparison: Danny Woodhead

Borghi, like Woodhead, just seems like a Bill Belichick type third-down back. Coming from the Belichick coaching tree, Brian Daboll would get the best of Borghi’s unique skill set.
