There’s a chance after rupturing his Achilles tendon last season that Peppers returns to the New York Giants on a one-year “prove it” deal, especially in new defensive coordinator Don “Wink” Martindale’s scheme.

However, for the cap-strapped Giants, it would seem unlikely that Schoen is going to break the bank if Peppers has offers elsewhere. Especially given that the New York Giants are going to want to quickly expand rising safety Xavier McKinney’s role in his third season and could aim to get Julian Love on the field after a strong finish to the 2021 campaign.

Peppers’ versatility as a blitzer and hybrid moneybacker type player up near the line of scrimmage should give him the opportunity to land somewhere. Prior to his injury, Peppers produced one sack and 10 run-stops to go with his 30 tackles, but opposing quarterbacks had a 121.9 passer rating when targeting him.

But, the Giants have younger safeties with more upside currently on the roster, so both sides might benefit from a change of scenery this offseason.
