3 NFL Draft RB targets for New York Giants to replace Devontae Booker
By Reese Nasser
Tyler Allgeier, BYU
BYU’s Tyler Allgeier could potentially be the player that most resembles the play of Devontae Booker. PFF went as far as to say that Allgeier’s player comparison is Booker. At 5’11 and 200 pounds, the two are nearly the exact same size.
From a playstyle perspective, Allgeier has the potential to be an every-down back in the NFL. During his four-year stretch at BYU, Allgeier was used in many different roles. Over his first two seasons, he was featured minimally within the offense. He ran for just 168 yards and zero touchdowns over his first 15 career games.
After earning the starting job in 2020, Allgeier transformed his game. He ran for 2731 yards and 36 touchdowns during his last two seasons. He also proved capable of carrying the ball at a high rate by racking up 426 total attempts.

While never scoring a receiving touchdown, he also proved that he can be effective in the passing game. He caught 42 passes and has 373 receiving yards over his last 24 career games. He averaged nearly 10 yards per catch throughout his four seasons.
A tandem of Barkley and Allgeier could be highly effective considering the contrast in their overall playstyle. Barkley is capable of being explosive and relies on his elite skills to make plays. Allgeier doesn’t have the explosive speed but is still able to be effective due to how well-rounded his game is.
