C Luke Fortner, Kentucky:

With there being a giant question-mark around Nick Gates health and potential to play next season, it is likely the NY Giants look to draft a replacement. I believe Luke Fortner would be a good mid-round target for the NY Giants to draft if they decide to not take Tyler Linderbaum in round one.

Coming in at a massive 6’6, 300 pounds, Luke Fortner had himself a very solid season at Kentucky, gaining a pass-blocking grade of 82.8, alongside a run-blocking grade of 84.7 per, PFF.

Luke Fortner is a tremendous run blocker, using his humongous frame and reach to dominate opposing defenders off the snap, however, he struggles with a couple of things in the pass blocking snaps.

While Luke Fortner possesses a great IQ to diagnose defensive stunts, alongside great hand technique, he often struggles with somewhat sluggish footwork and the tendency to place his hands too high on defenders. However, with a good offensive line coach, these issues can be fixed.

I believe that if Luke Fortner can fix the few issues he has, he has the potential to be a tremendous center in this league, not to mention that he has experience in other positions on the line, opening up the door for a shift if the center position does not work for him at the next level.
