Round 1, pick No. 7: Travon Walker, Edge, Georgia

It would be easy for the New York Giants to target the best remaining offensive lineman (be it one of the top tackles, or Iowa center Tyler Linderbaum), but the Bills didn’t invest a first-round pick along the offensive line during Schoen’s tenure in Buffalo and New York desperately needs rushers who can thrive in Don “Wink” Martindale’s scheme.

Enter Travon Walker, who is among the highest risers coming out of this year’s Combine.

Walker had one of the more impressive performances of the week, posting 4.51-second 40-yard dash, and completing the three-cone drill in one of the fastest times in recent memory, a blazing 6.89 seconds.

The Georgia standout arrived in Indianapolis as a mid-first-round pick but performed his way into the top-10 conversation, and he is an ideal scheme and positional need fit for the New York Giants. Last season, Walker produced six sacks, and during the on-field drills flashed the kind of strength and explosivness that matched his dominant film.

Adding Walker to the pass-rush rotation, just may be the kind of foundation that sets the New York Giants up to have one of the more promising young collections of rushers in the league.
