NFL Draft 2022: New York Giants’ assistant GM Brandon Brown scouts Tulsa pro day
The New York Giants sent one of the organization’s top decision makers to scout Tulsa’s pro day ahead of the 2022 NFL Draft next month
New York Giants assistant general manager Brandon Brown was among the executives from at least 27 teams in attendance at Tulsa’s pro day on Thursday, according to a report from Aaron Wilson of Pro Football Network.
Several NFL Draft prospects who would fit a pressing need for the Giants worked out, including offensive linemen Tyler Smith, and Chris Paul, as well as wide receiver Josh Johnson and defensive back Travon Fuller.
Paul turned heads at the NFL Combine last week in Indianaplis, where he ran the 40-yard dash in 4.92 seconds, which certainly boosts his draft stock.
At 6-foot-4 and 325 pounds, Paul had a breakout 2021 campaign, finishing the season with an 83.9 overall grade from Pro Football Focus as Tulsa’s starting right tackle. Paul’s versatility playing tackle as well as guard, could push him up draft boards, including the Giants’ as the organization aims to mine a bookend to Andrew Thomas as well as add potentially two guards this offseason.
Smith started at left tackle for Tulsa last season, where he started 24 games during his career.
Meanwhile, Fuller would certainly fill a void in New York’s secondary and seemingly fits the profile of defensive backs defensive coordinator Don “Wink” Martindale covets. Last season, Fuller produced 39 total tackles and three interceptions.
The New York Giants own own nine selections in next month’s NFL Draft, including picks No. 5 and No. 7 overall in the first-round.
