PFF Projected Deal: 5 yrs — $10m avg/yr

If the New York Giants choose to make a splash in free agency, there may be no better option than Chicago Bears offensive lineman James Daniels. Since entering the league in 2018, Daniels has been among the most versatile offensive lineman to step onto the field.

Throughout his four seasons, Daniels has spent significant time at three different positions on the offensive line. He has logged 1625 snaps at left guard, 508 at the center, and 1121 at right guard. The ability to move across the line and play where needed could make Daniels the perfect option for this offense that has struggled so much in recent years.

Daniels has been effective wherever he has played along the line. Since entering the NFL, he has never recorded an offensive grade less than 65.8 according to PFF.

One of the few issues in Daniels’ game is his problem drawing penalties. He recorded nine penalties this past season, the eighth-most among his position.

In his 3257 career snaps, Daniels has allowed just four sacks. He has proven to be among the best at his position. Just this past season he was the 19th ranked guard according to PFF. In comparison, the Giants guards were ranked at 60th and 74th.

At just 24 years old, Daniel would be a perfect fit among what will probably be one of the league’s youngest offensive line groups heading into next season. The opportunity to go all in on a player of his caliber could make sense, both in the short-term and long-term for this time.
