Kyzir White, Linebacker
PFF Projected Deal: 2 yrs — $6.25m avg/yr
Los Angeles Chargers linebacker Kyzir White could be the best free-agent linebacker for the Giants. After playing a much bigger role in 2021, White showed that he can play at a high level. His ability to impact in multiple areas of the defense, especially with how much he may make in the offseason, could make White a great free-agent target.
White played 979 total snaps this past season, nearly double his previous career-high. In this time he recorded 144 total tackles, seven tackles for loss, two interceptions, and two forced fumbles. He marked career highs in every category. His 107 solo tackles were the eighth-most in the NFL.
While he played safety in college, White has made the switch to linebacker since entering the NFL. He has handled it well as he was the 20th ranked linebacker this past season according to PFF. He has also already developed into a strong force in both his pass rush and his coverage.
By adding White to the New York Giants linebacker core, they would instantly be getting an upgrade to the position. After losing Blake Martinez to a torn ACL last season, the linebacker position was arguably the worst piece of the defense. White could be an every-down player for this defense and could eventually develop into one of the league’s best linebackers.
