New York Giants’ offensive line taking shape after Jon Feliciano signing
The New York Giants continued to rebuild the offensive line as free agency begins, signing former Buffalo Bills’ lineman Jon Feliciano
Joe Schoen and Brian Daboll continue to rebuild the New York Giants’ offensive line as free agency begins, adding a familiar face from their time with the Buffalo Bills, John Feliciano on Monday evening.
News of Feliciano’s signing was first reported by Matt Parrino of Syracuse.com.
Feliciano previously played for the Bills under Daboll and new Giants offensive line coach Bobby Johnson, and could slide into New York’s starting center job, depending on Nick Gates’ progress in returning from a serious leg injury suffered in Week 2 of last season.
Last season, Feliciano, 30, didn’t allow a sack in 442 total snaps, according to Pro Football Focus. Feliciano’s knowledge of Daboll and Johnson’s scheme provides value, and so does his ability to play center or guard, along an offensive line that entered the offseason in dire need of a significant upgrade.
Feliciano’s signing comes hours after the New York Giants added former Indianapolis Colts guard Mark Glowinski.
Glowinski and Andrew Thomas allowed just two sacks apiece last season, and could conceivably make up the left side of the Giants’ line, with Feliciano at center.
Meanwhile, the New York Giants have a pair of top-seven picks in next month’s NFL Draft, which could put Schoen in a prime position to choose a bookend to Thomas to anchor the line for upwards of the next decade.
