With many holes on the roster, the New York Giants need to find some impact players on day 2 of the 2022 NFL Draft.

What do Michael Strahan, Amani Toomer, Osi Umenyiora, Chris Snee, Corey Webster, Justin Tuck, Steve Smith, Mario Manningham, and Linval Joseph have in common? Each was an integral player on one or more New York Giants Super Bowl Championship team during the Eli Manning era.

What else do these players have in common?

Each player was selected in the second or third round. When the Giants were winning Super Bowls, they were hitting home runs in this part of the NFL Draft.

Cooper Kupp, Davante Adams, Dalvin Cook, Derrick Henry, Darius Leonard, Fred Warner, Travis Kelce, Rob Gronkowski, and Mark Andrews are just a few of the elite All-Pro players that were picked in the second or third round in recent history.

The best teams don’t pick run-of-the-mill players on Day 2.

Unfortunately, the New York Giants haven’t found elite talent on day 2 since the early Jerry Reece drafts (although Xavier McKinney and Azeez Ojulari can eventually develop into the elite category).

Many draft scouts believe that the strength of this draft is in rounds 2 and 3. Joe Schoen will have three day 2 picks (#37, #69, and #79 overall) at his disposal. In this article, I will go over draft prospects that Schoen should target with each of those picks.

Here are some potential Day 2 targets for the New York Giants in the 2022 NFL Draft
