NFL Draft 2022: New York Giants’ top Day 2 targets
By David Solow
Chad Muma- Wyoming, Linebacker
Why would he be a good value for the New York Giants at #69?
Muma is an athletic three-down linebacker that has great football instincts. He quickly diagnoses plays and gets to the right spot before blockers can get to him on the play. His 4.63 40-yard-dash and 40 inch vertical prove that he has the kind of explosiveness to keep up with running backs and tight ends in coverage.
Muma rarely misses tackles as well. For Wyoming, he averaged over 11 tackles per game.
How would be fit with the New York Giants?
Wink Martindale prioritizes speed and sideline-to-sideline range at the middle linebacker position. Muma is more athletic than Blake Martinez, who was just brought back after taking a team-friendly pay cut.
Muma would have a great chance to start at the middle linebacker position with Martinez and would definitely be a lead candidate for the 3rd down linebacker role. Tae Crowder has had his fair share of struggles, which makes inside linebacker a major need for the New York Giants.
The Giants need their version of Patrick Queen, who has used his elite athleticism to create havoc in the middle for Balitmore. Muma could develop into that guy for Martindale’s defense.

New York Giants Player Comparison: Blake Martinez
Muma isn’t as stout as Martinez against runs up the middle, but he makes up for it with his athleticism and football instincts. Like Martinez, Muma has a nose for the football and would have no issue eventually wearing the headset and calling plays for the defense.
