Round 5, Pick No. 173: Nephi Sewell, LB, Utah

Sewell is a project linebacker who probably projects into the New York Giants’ defense as an interior linebacker. He’s effective dropping into zone coverage, and can also rush the passer on inside blitzes. He has good speed from sideline to sideline, but at just 6’0 and 226 pounds, he might get blown off the ball at the professional level.

Last year Sewell racked up 89 tackles in 13 games with the Utes, with 7.5 going for a loss. He had one interception and a forced fumble. Overall in his collegiate career, Sewell racked up 251 tackles in 43 games, with five picks, three forced fumbles, and three fumble recovers – one of which he took back for a touchdown.
