Round 3, Pick No. 89: Kellen Diesch, OT, Arizona State

While the New York Giants’ recent signings along the offensive line reduce their immediate need for lineman, two things remain true.

First, Glowinski and Feliciano will both be 30 at the start of the season, and thus their shelf life is probably only a few years at the most. Second, depth is very important along the offensive line.

So, while perhaps the New York Giants would prefer to end up with an interior lineman here, Diesch is the best player available and projects to become a starting tackle at the next level.

At 6-foot-7 and 299 pounds, Deisch has room to pack on some more weight, which should help him handle bull rushes more effectively. He’s already quite good in pass protection and relies on his speed, but the additional weight would help his run blocking and give him a stronger anchor against power rushers.

The New York Giants wouldn’t expect him to step in and play right away, so he’d have time to improve his size and strength before perhaps becoming a key piece in the future.
