Former New York Giants tight end Evan Engram signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars, leaving a significant void at the position for the Giants
With Evan Engram signing with the Jacksonville Jaguars, along with Kyle Rudolph and Kaden smith being cut, the New York Giants have a hole at tight end.
Engram specifically was a speedy tight end who had a good ability to get open, but had drop issues, especially in his last few years as a Giant.
The separation of Engram and the Giants was expected at some point or another. While the two may be better off without each other, that still leaves the Giants down a good receiving tight end.
The New York Giants Giants recently signed a receiving tight end, however, Ricky Seals-Jones, who recently played with Washington. Seals-Jones had 30 catches on the season, so while the signing is decent, there are still more moves to make in the tight-end department.
While this does somewhat fill the need, there is still more work to be done at this position. A blocking tight end is a desperate need for New York and those options run slimmer by the hour.
Options in free agency are either older or slim, so the NFL Draft should be the place that the Giants are expected to potentially reach out for.
The issue with free agency is that the Giants are in a heavy rebuilding mode, and are not in a position where these players would be very attracted to the situation.
However, there are still options on the market that could even be mentors to a future rookie tight end.
