New York Giants general manager Joe Schoen scouted Cincinnati and Ohio State’s Pro Days, getting a close look at top NFL Draft prospects like Sauce Gardner

Joe Schoen has already checked in on some of the biggest pro day workouts this offseason, and the New York Giants general manager was on hand to scout Ohio State and Cincinnati’s showcases to get an up-close look at some of this year’s top NFL Draft prospects.

Given the Giants‘ needs at cornerback, wide receiver, and edge rusher, it’s little surprise that Schoen made his way to the Buckeye state this week.

Whether the New York Giants trade James Bradberry or not, cornerback figures to be a top priority during the NFL Draft, and Schoen being in Cincinnati gave him a chance to watch Sauce Gardner work out and spend time with the All-American.

Last season, Gardner produced 40 total tackles, while adding three interceptions, four pass breakups, and one forced fumble.

Gardner is widely viewed as the premier cornerback in this year’s class, and could be an ideal scheme fit in Don “Wink” Martindale’s system, especially thanks to his long 6-foot-3 and 200-pound frame.

Meanwhile, Ohio State’s Nicholas Petit-Frere is a prospect to watch for the Giants, especially if New York misses out on or passes up one of the premier offensive tackles with their two top-10 picks.

Petit-Frere is projected to be a second or third-round selection, and at 6-foot-5 and 315 pounds offers high-end athleticism at the position, especially in the ground-game.

The Buckeyes could see as many as eight players drafted, so it’s little wonder that Schoen has made his way to scout one of college football’s premier programs.
