EDGE Kayvon Thibodeaux, Oregon

With the New York Giants filling out most of the offensive line through free agency, it is unlikely that they look to select another offensive lineman with their two top 10 picks.

With this in mind, the New York Giants could look to fill some gaps on defense, and with there being a good chance they Kayvon Thibodeaux falls to the NY Giants at 5 or 7, I believe he may be the best option defensively if this is the case.

The New York Giants’ pass rush was not good last season, this is something we all know. In the 2021 season, the Giants ranked 22nd in sacks, 27th in QB knockdowns, and 24th in QB hurries.

Alongside this, the New York Giants leader in sacks last season was rookie Azeez Ojulari with eight, not the most ideal number to lead a team.

However, if the New York Giants are able to pair a budding star like Ojulari with a player with the potential of Kayvon Thibodeaux, the defense will benefit for years to come.

In 11 games this season for Oregon, Thibodeaux tallied nine sacks, 11 QB hits, 28 QB hurries, 45 combined tackles, and two forced fumbles. Considering that he only played 11 games, while dealing with an injury, I’d say these numbers are quite impressive.

Kayvon Thibodeaux possesses a rare combination of elite speed and strength that make him a very special talent. If he is available when the NY Giants make their 5th or 7th picks, they should go all in on the talented edge rusher.
