I would expect Cross, Lloyd, and Mafe to be starters from day one, while Enagbare, Asamoah, and Jospeph would battle for playing time in their rookie years and might crack the starting lineup.

Some of the late-round skill position players could certainly work onto the field this year as well.

I didn’t go into this expecting to trade back in the first round of this New York Giants mock draft, but when the opportunity presented itself and the value was too good to pass up, I reached an interesting conclusion: it might make a lot of sense! It’s easy to overlook the board in that area of the draft, as the Giants appear unlikely to end up there, but if someone comes calling about one of those two high first-rounders, there are still plenty of interesting players in the middle of the first round who can help the Giants right away.

All in all, I think this New York Giants mock draft addressed their organizational weakness in the trenches, while also sprinkling talent throughout the defense. It would put them in a position to turn things around pretty quickly if Daniel Jones proves himself to be the guy at quarterback, and if not, they’d have a pretty strong group of talented young players around whoever they pursued next year at quarterback.
