Round 2, Pick No. 47: Kingsley Enagbare, EDGE, South Carolina

His versatility is more between the defensive line and EDGE linebacker, but Kingsley Enagbare is still a defender that could be moved around and utilized in different ways.

He’s more of a pure pass rusher than perhaps would be the best fit in a 3-4 scheme, but he was the best player available and did rush from a stand-up position at times in college, so with some coaching it should be an adjustment he’s capable of making.

Given that this draft would see the New York Giants adding some versatility in Devin Lloyd, it’s reasonable to add someone like Enagbare who could conceivably play 3-4 DE at times and 3-4 OLB EDGE at times, while Lloyd can move around the linebacker positions.

NFL Draft Buzz hypes up Enagbare’s violent hands and high motor, while also mentioning that he may be even more effective rushing inside than just coming off the outside. That’s additional optionality for Martindale, and it can make the offense’s pass protection job even more complicated if the EDGE linebackers are able to dive inside on a blitz and stunt with another defender.

It’s worth noting that I nearly took Brian Asamoah, the linebacker from Oklahoma, as the two are rated very closely together and were both available.

In that type of situation, it comes down to who offers more positional valuation and need. I value edge rushers higher than linebackers, of course, and really think it would be great for the Giants to come out of this draft with two EDGE rushers who can get into the mix this year. Plus Asamoah would be a bit of a redundant pick having already taken Devin Lloyd, although there’s nothing wrong with solidifying a position for the long-term in one draft.
