The New York Giants hosted UCONN defensive tackle Travis Jones on a pre-NFL Draft visit Thursday, according to league sources

The New York Giants continue their due diligence on offensive and defensive line prospects ahead of the 2022 NFL Draft.

Thursday, the Giants hosted UCONN defensive tackle Travis Jones for a top-30 pre-draft visit, league sources tell FanSided.

Jones, 6-foot-4 and 333 pounds produced 4.5 sacks, along with a career-high 48 tackles as a junior for the Huskies last season, before being selected to attend the Senior Bowl.

Through three seasons, Jones produced 134 total tackles, and 8.5 sacks.

At the NFL Combine, Jones ran the 40-yard dash in 4.92 seconds, the three-cone drill in 7.33 seconds, and posted a 4.58-second 20-yard shuttle.

How NFL Draft prospect Travis Jones would fit the New York Giants’ defense

A space-eater along the interior of Connecticut’s defensive line, Jones was one of the Huskies’ standout defenders last season. According to Pro Football Focus, he produced 25 quarterback pressures and 21 run-stops.

If new New York Giants general manager Joe Schoen is aiming to bolster both lines of scrimmage, Jones has the potential to develop into a starting caliber defender.

Jones could be a prospect to watch for New York somewhere around the third-round of the draft later this month.
