New York Giants Draft Target: Kalon Barnes

Having the second-fastest 40-yard dash in Scouting Combine history will put your name up draft boards, and he should be high on the Giants’ list. He has the ability to run with the fastest of receivers and has the raw talent to develop into a great player. Barnes can be regarded as undersized at 5’11, 183, but his speed has made up for his size.

Having physicality in terms of stopping the run is also important for his position, and Barnes has that. While his wrapping ability is not there yet, the fact that he is more willing to lay out for tackles than most will make him successful.

He has a tendency to struggle the longer the play goes on, and has happened to keep his eyes on the quarterback for too long. His issues are coachable, however, and most prospects in these mid-rounds will have their flaws that will take time to fix. If the Giants are patient with these players, then they will find some diamonds in the rough at the cornerback spot.
