By John Makuch
Some executives and scouts inside the NFL believe Kyle Hamilton is the premier player in the 2022 NFL Draft, would the Notre Dame safety fit the New York Giants?
Kyle Hamilton might just be the best available player in the NFL Draft, but is it feasible for the New York Giants to select him?
Safeties are not usually regarded as highly as Hamilton, but his stock has risen mightily over the past few months.
“He could legitimately go No. 1 overall,” an NFL scout recently told FanSided NFL Insider Matt Lombardo. “His range and football IQ are easily his best traits, and I just can’t see how he would slide anywhere past No. 7 (Giants) or No. 10 (Jets).”
The Houston Texans or New York Jets are likely to select Hamilton, however, they may go for other options at picks three and four respectively.
If Hamilton is on the board when the Giants go on the clock, the Notre Dame superstar’s name will be in the consideration to be the fifth player selected in the NFL Draft.
Other teams may also try to trade up to select Hamilton, which could result in massive capital for the New York Giants.
New general manager Joe Schoen is in quite the predicament with the fifth and seventh picks, and if Hamilton is there, there are many options to select from.
