2). Versatility
Ekwonu is one of the more versatile offensive linemen in this year’s draft. He has spent significant time at both left tackle and left guard and has excelled in both positions. Ekwonu played in a total of 2,285 offensive snaps while at NC State. While 2,000 of them came at left tackle, he recorded another 200 at left guard. In the four appearances that he made at left guard, he allowed just a total of eight pressures and two sacks.
During his time at guard, Ekwonu was still able to play at his normal elite level. According to PFF, his efficiency never dropped below 94.3 in any start, which was still better than some of his games where he only played tackle.
While Ekwonu is expected to be a tackle in the NFL, he has proven to also have the ability to play guard. This flexibility will allow him to move around the offensive line, especially on a Giants offensive line that has been plagued with injuries and inconsistencies over the past few seasons.
