NY Giants Day 2 Target: George Pickens, WR Georgia
With recent reports that the Giants are looking to move on from wide receiver Darius Slayton, adding a player such as Georgia George Pickens would make perfect sense. A torn ACL in the spring led to Pickens not making his appearance in 2021 until week 13. He played just a total of 35 passing down for this Georgia offense this past season. He finished the season with five receptions for a total of 107 yards.
Excluding his injury-ridden final season, Pickens was one of the most dominating wide receivers in football in 2019 and 2020. He recorded 85 receptions, 1,239 yards, and 14 touchdowns over his first two seasons. He also averaged over 14 yards per catch in each season.
Pickens is one of the best pure pass-catchers in this year’s class. He recorded just two drops on 139 total targets. He can catch nearly anything thrown his way. He can also create space against even the best defender.
With missing nearly his final season, the main question regarding Pickens is how ready is he to go. While he never fully built on what he accomplished in his freshman season, he still has all those skills and abilities. At 6-3 and 195 pounds, he has the build of a WR1. There’s no reason to believe that he cant become on at the next level. If the Giants are looking to add a dynamic, Pickens could be just that.
