Micah McFadden will be a future Pro Bowler on the NY Giants
It’s not easy to find those hidden gems in the later rounds of the 2022 NFL Draft but this might very well be the case with the NY Giants and new general manager Joe Schoen. In Round 5 of the 2022 NFL Draft, the Giants made the NFL dreams of linebacker Micah McFadden true. The moment this draft pick was official, the Giants instantly got a defender that’s going to be a household name sooner rather than later.
At 6-1 and 240 lbs, McFadden brings a plethora of experience, leadership, and productivity to the table. Don’t let him being just a fifth-round pick fool you, he’s the kind of player you can put on the field and will instantly produce. Best of all, he’s been a team captain on Indiana the last two seasons as that’ll be a great presence to have in the Giants’ lockerroom.
Granted, he’s young and will have much to learn in the NFL but the talent is undoubtedly there. If the Giants can mold him to truly make the most of his potential, he’s going to be a star in the city that never sleeps. Taking a look at his collegiate career, it’s easy to see why he will go down in Hoosier history as one of the best linebackers to ever play for the team.
Micah McFadden of the NY Giants has Pro Bowler written all over him
In his four seasons at Indiana, McFadden put up some incredible stats with 216 tackles, 14 sacks, four interceptions, four passes defended, and made a name for himself in adjusting well in the heat of the moment to make plays. It will be a great sight to see his impact on defense in those ever-important 3rd and short situations because of how smart he is on pickup up what opposing offenses are doing and making a big stop.
After watching many of his collegiate highlights and just the presence he brings to the gridiron, he has Pro Bowl potential written all over him once he gets some experience under his belt in his rookie season. After that, the sky is the limit because with the intensity he brings when tackling and his overall determination, it won’t be long before he puts everything together towards playing at a high level.
Of course, we can only hope this is the case for McFadden and all the other draft picks the Giants made but it sure looks like they got a special player here. A player the Giants can plug in at middle linebacker and unleash against opposing offenses in unique ways. He just has a natural and fluid skill-set to truly bring the kind of consistent production he had at Indiana to the Giants.
Take a look at his highlights below to see what all the buzz around McFadden is all about:
It will be exciting to see all this translate to hopefully similar results on the Giants’ defense and even on special teams since it’s expected he’ll start there this upcoming season and slowly be eased into things. It might not happen in 2022 but after his rookie season is in the books, keep an eye on McFadden’s growth as a player because he has everything needed to be a future Pro Bowler and then some.
