With the 2022 NFL Draft wrapping up over the weekend, the question everyone has on their minds has arrived: Were the NY Giants winners or losers? In speaking to Giants fans, football fans, and reading reactions on Twitter, there’s clearly loads of differing opinions.

Most people agree that the Giants killed it with their first-round picks, selecting Kayvon Thibodeaux and Evan Neal at No. 5 and No. 7, respectively. After that, things get a bit more questionable. With that said, there’s no denying this roster has improved from top to bottom.

NY Giants were clear winners in the NFL Draft

The G-Men were no doubt winners. For starters, the selections of Thibodeaux and Neal alone warrant a victory for the draft. These two have the chance to be incredibly special for years to come.

However, as mentioned previously, the later rounds of the draft for the Giants is where things get questionable. While the team addressed multiple positions of need, it could be argued they reached for some players too.

The pick that NY Giants fans have been questioning the most was the selection of wide receiver Wan’Dale Robinson in the second round. Not only do the Giants have plenty of depth at the position, but Robinson wasn’t viewed as a second-round pick leading up to things. While Robinson is a skilled player and he could play a key role on this team, New York could have likely seen him available in one of the later rounds. This surely felt like a reach.

Besides that pick, fans loved the other selections made by the Giants, as the front office did a great job at addressing positions of need like guard, safety, corner, tight end and linebacker.

However, another pick that was questioned a bit too at the time was the selection of tight end Daniel Bellinger in the fourth round. While people are high on Bellinger as a blocker, Coastal Carolina’s Isaiah Likely was still on the board. He ended up getting snatched up by the Baltimore Ravens. Plenty of people would have preferred him over Bellinger.

With all of that said, and some reaches, it’s hard to call the NY Giants anything other than winners for the 2022 NFL Draft. They took arguably two top-five prospects in Thibodeaux and Neal, which has the fanbase incredibly excited for the future. Props to general manager Joe Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll for seemingly steering this Giants ship in the right direction. Some tough, but smart calls were made by New York.
