Since when has Graham Gano become public enemy No. 1? After the NY Giants took Kayvon Thibodeaux with the fifth overall pick, people started speculating whether or not Gano would be willing to let the former Oregon Duck have his No. 5 jersey number. Thibodeaux revealed Gano wanted a major payday in exchange for that number.

Since then, Giants fans have assumed there’s been a bit of beef between the two. Don’t worry about that for a second, as Gano took to Twitter to let everyone know he and Thibodeaux are building their friendship off the gridiron and there’s no issues between them at all. This is obviously great to see.

NY Giants kicker Graham Gano has a high asking price for his jersey number

Per Thibodeaux, Gano wants a cool $250,000 for his No. 5. He can’t be serious here, right? He sure is, and that’s going to be tough for the Giants rookie pass-rusher to afford. Still, the first-round pick said he’s still going to try to pry away that No. 5 away from Gano, though he knows he’s got an uphill battle to convince him.

“He’s a great guy,” Thibodeaux said of Gano via Pro Football Talk. “We’re obviously going to build a relationship. We’re going to talk about it. That is something I’m pursuing. Plus, he’s a vet. He’s put the work in. He’s got five kids. So, you know, there’s a whole lot of negotiating that’s going to have to happen before anything shakes.”

Thibodeaux might have to settle for No. 55 or something else, but the door isn’t completely shut here. Regardless of what number he does where, the pass-rusher will be ready to have a monster year for New York in 2022. The expectations are high for him in Year 1, but fans are confident that he’ll be able to deliver.

Meanwhile for Gano, it’s business as usual for him leading up to the new season. Jabrill Peppers learned the hard way last offseason that Gano wouldn’t part ways with his jersey number and now Thibodeaux is learning of this as well. Despite that, it’s nice to see he and Thibodeaux are still having a good time together on FaceTime. Soon enough, the two will be ready to suit up together at MetLife Stadium, which people can’t wait for. It could be a year to remember for the G-Men and both these guys will have a big-time say in things.
