From the moment the NY Giants selected Kayvon Thibodeaux with the No. 5 overall pick in the NFL Draft, people have been excited thinking about this future with the team. What makes this selection even better is that Thibodeaux is a really outgoing young man, with his personality being a perfect fit for the New York market. Need more proof of this?
Take a recent interview as the latest example. Shortly after finding out he was NY-bound, Thibodeaux shared the story of when he was at the Giants facility and he ended up meeting both quarterback Daniel Jones and running back Saquon Barkley. The way Thibodeaux described things was truly priceless.

Daniel Jones and Saquon Barkley are hoping for big years in 2022
While Thibodeaux is incredibly popular and a talented football player, you’ve got to remember that he’s still only 21 years old. For him, meeting big names like Jones and Barkley was still something that he wasn’t quite ready for. He even had to take his glasses off to tell the tale of meeting the two offensive leaders for Brian Daboll. That’s awesome.
Despite having all the skills in the world, Thibodeaux is clearly a humble guy and he’s ready to work his tail off to help New York turn things around. After going a lowly 4-13 last season and finishing in last place of the NFC East, the Giants are in desperate need of a bounce-back campaign in 2022. The pressure is on Jones and Barkley to deliver here.
For Jones, he’s entering the final year of his contract. If he wants to return to East Rutherford after this upcoming season, he’s going to have to record a strong campaign for new head coach Brian Daboll. As for Barkley, he was less than impressive in 2021 after returning from his torn ACL. Giants fans are praying to the football Gods that won’t repeat itself this year and that Barkley can return to his impressive form.
As for Thibodeaux, he’s being looked at as the future for this defense, while fellow first-round pick Evan Neal has all the tools to be a boss on the offensive line for years to come. The morale is high for the Giants. Now, it’s time for the team to back things up on the gridiron starting Week 1. Thibodeaux will surely be ready to answer the call for this squad.
