There’s nothing quite like taking the field at the professional level for the first time. While NY Giants pass-rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux will have to wait for Sept. 11 against the Tennessee Titans to make his regular season debut, he turned plenty of heads at the opening day of Giants rookie minicamp.

Thibodeaux was smiling from ear to ear from the moment he jogged out with the other players. The No. 5 overall pick didn’t hold back when discussing how special the moment was for him, as he said he was on the verge of tears when the music started blasting and things got underway. This tells you just how much it means to him.

NY Giants rookie Kayvon Thibodeaux is loving minicamp thus far

You’ve got to love this from Thibodeaux if you’re a Giants fan. He’s seeing his dreams come true and so far things are off to a great start for him with New York. He previously mentioned that Michael Strahan was mentoring him, and then he and Graham Gano were able to cut a deal for the No. 5 jersey number.

Now, Thibodeaux is wasting no time making plays on the gridrion for new head coach Brian Daboll, while general manager Joe Schoen has been left impressed as well. It’s not only Thibodeaux looking sharp, though, as Evan Neal, Wan’Dale Robinson and others are making an early impression on the coaching staff.

This is all great news for the Giants, as they want to put the nightmare 4-13 record from 2021 in the past and focus on the future. Thibodeaux’s emotional take from his first day of camp also means he’s fully buying into the new vision for this team. There’s been some lean years for the Giants in recent campaigns, but Thibodeaux is ready to help flip the switch. He knows there’s pressure on him and the rest of the top draft picks to help get that done.

Yes, he was a first-round pick and has all the confidence possible. At the same time, Thibodeaux is still a humble young man who’s only 21 years old. Giants nation is loving everything about this kid thus far and his support is only going to grow in the coming months. Once the regular season arrives too, you know Thibodeaux is going to mean business. The outside linebacker will continue to make a difference at camp and that will surely continue once September rolls around.
