Patriots fans have already had enough of ex-NY Giants head coach Joe Judge
The Joe Judge experiment is going pretty much as expected for the New England Patriots: not well. After a terrible stint as head coach of the NY Giants, Judge is back with the Pats ready to try and help out Bill Belichick and Co. as an offensive assistant. While Judge’s role hasn’t fully been locked down, he’s in the hunt to be the team’s new offensive coordinator.
It’s between him and Matt Patricia to take over the offense, with neither move being overly exciting for the fanbase. With Judge specifically, though, he said that he’ll be working closely with the quarterbacks for sure this season, in particular with starter Mac Jones. This update has people all over Foxborough in a bit of a panic.
Joe Judge’s move from the NY Giants to the New England Patriots isn’t going well
Taking a look at the replies from insider Mike Reiss’ tweets, the New England faithful hate the fact that Judge is going to be joining forces with Jones. In his two years with the Giants, Judge posted a 10-23 record as head coach. On top of the horrible mark leading the G-Men, Giants fans saw just how poor former first-round pick Daniel Jones looked running the O for New York.
Imagine if Judge somehow ends up calling plays for the Patriots. That’s going to be a living nightmare for people in New England. Judge was previously special teams coordinator for the team, which led to him getting the gig with the Giants in 2020. He was fired in January of 2022 after the team went 4-13 last season. He was 10-23 in his two years with NY.
The Patriots are looking for someone to fill the massive shoes of former offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, who left the team this offseason to take over as head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders. McDaniels was nothing short of brilliant working under Belichick, as his offense was prime each year. He played a massive role in helping Jones have such a strong rookie season.
Now, the idea of Judge taking over the reigns and trying to get Jones to take a leap in Year 2 is not what anyone was expecting or hoping for. Judge has countless haters in New York/New Jersey after doing such a poor job with the Giants. Now, it looks like he’s developed even more doubters in his second stint with the Pats. This has all the feels of a disaster on the way for the Patriots.
